City manager details capital projects: 27 subdivisions active, Midtown Park work, water and road updates

City Manager Keane Register updated council on capital improvements across Bryan, saying staff has tracked 27 subdivisions or phases presently under construction or recently accepted with about 1,056 lots for single-family development. "There are currently 27 subdivisions or phases of subdivisions under construction or, had had a recently accepted platform within these subdivisions or 10 56 lots for single family home developments in Bridal," the city manager stated during the report.

Keane outlined specific infrastructure items: the Old Hearn Road extension is about 90% complete; Mumford Road will be closed for construction from Oct. 13 through Nov. 26; Midtown Park spillway work has begun and will enable refilling the lake; the Chick Lane elevated storage tank project has finishing work complete and should be online by year end; and the Stella Ranch lift station pumps have arrived with expected operation by the end of December. The report also listed parks programming and community events, including a school holiday camp (Oct. 13–17), Trunk-or-Treat (Nov. 1) and the Bryan Texas Songwriter Festival with free main-stage performances and a VIP option.

The city manager’s report emphasized operational maintenance across parks (fencing repairs, trail clearing, tree removals) and noted completed sign replacements on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. No new budget appropriations were proposed during the briefing; staff will continue routine project tracking and forthcoming implementation steps.
