Oklo says first commercial plant at INL could begin producing power by 2027–28

Jake DeWitt, chief executive of Oklo, described a path to a commercial demonstration at Idaho National Laboratory: a site-use permit with DOE, INL-supplied fuel and ongoing ground characterization and drilling. "We're building our 1st plant up in Idaho. It's a full commercial plant. It's cited on the lab," DeWitt said, and added that the project is intended to be a pathfinder for private deployment backed by offtakers and investors.
DeWitt framed data centers and other large, predictable electricity customers as critical early customers that can support higher first-of-a-kind prices and help drive down costs for subsequent plants. He said Oklo sized its technology to match typical data-hall loads (about 60–75 megawatts) and that having well-capitalized customers changes the financing dynamics for early builds. The panel offered no regulatory dates beyond company targets.
