Council awards 40th Street waterline contract to Brager & Sons

The South Ogden City Council voted to award a contract to Brager & Sons for the 40th Street waterline project (Resolution 25-06). Public Works and Parks Director John Anderson recommended the award after an A/B bid process and said the project will replace aging line that has leaked in prior summers.
“We were actually able to get 7 bids, which is phenomenal for us,” Anderson said, describing a competitive bidding outcome. He told council the pipe at the project end is old — observed fragments suggest it could date to the late 1930s — and that the work will require a planned shutdown and a roughly 90-day construction window.
Anderson explained the engineer’s estimate and supplies cost, and council asked for clarifications about total cost; staff confirmed anticipated costs will be closer to $1,000,000 once supplies and allowances are included, but the winning bid came in substantially under some estimates. Council moved, seconded and approved the resolution in a roll-call vote.
Staff said they will coordinate scheduling, public notification for shutdowns and follow-up outreach to adjacent property owners before construction begins.
