Council approves pre-applications for VDOT grants and accepts two subdivision streets into VDOT system

Staff noted two of the projects already have concept plans and cost estimates and explained that local-match funds typically come from Northern Virginia Transportation Authority allocations.
Separately, council approved a resolution to submit Ball Court and West K Street (Blue Ridge Estates; approx. 0.2 center miles) to VDOT for inclusion in the urban maintenance inventory, which will generate maintenance payments per lane-mile. Council members asked about county denial of prior CIP requests, staff capacity to manage grants and projects, and the need to prioritize projects based on staff bandwidth. Motions to proceed with pre-applications and to submit the U-1 forms to VDOT both passed with council approval.
