Board hears overview of $1.6M supplemental appropriation covering multiple projects

City administrative staff told the Board of Aldermen that R-26-048 is a routine year-end supplemental appropriation of slightly more than $1.6 million to balance multiple accounts and advance projects ready for implementation. Tim Cummings, director of administrative services, said most items are standard year‑end adjustments but singled out a handful of projects that need action now, including the Ledge Street playground, support for a school dental program, a $500,000 top-up to the city’s retirement trust, and resolution of outstanding FEMA COVID reimbursement shortfalls.
A number of aldermen requested additional backup documents and suggested some items be separated for committee-level votes. Cummings and other department heads agreed to provide spreadsheets and further justification at the budget committee. No final appropriation votes were taken at the public hearing; the items remain under consideration in committee and will return to the board for formal action.
