At the meeting’s second and final reading, the Goose Creek City Council adopted the fiscal year 2025 budget. Mayor Greg Habib summarized the plan, saying the city is holding millage steady while adding staff to meet growth and to prepare to open a new fire station in 2026.
"This budget allows us to prepare for the opening of Station 4, which should open in the spring of 2026," the mayor said. He told the council the budget includes 13 new positions in the general fund, 12 new positions in the fire department (noting 0.5 FTE for one year), and four new police officers plus additional 911/dispatch personnel to serve a growing city.
Mayor Pro Tem Green Fletcher moved to adopt the budget and Councilman TCAC seconded the motion. The mayor called for the vote and the motion carried; the council adopted the FY2025 budget. The mayor later reminded councilors there was a budget document to sign after the meeting.
The mayor described the budget approach as conservative with a contingency to ensure year‑one operations of the new station. No amendments or recorded roll‑call tallies were read into the public record during the meeting.
