Council OKs new Inserta valve and emergency pump-station payment to prevent sewage leaks

The board voted to buy a 4-inch Inserta Valve (Hydra Stop) from Eagle Pipe and Supply for $6,792.00, the lowest of two quotes, to address North Church well infrastructure needs. Alderman Brian Grantham moved the purchase; Alderman John Banks seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Separately, the board approved payment of $24,107.93 to Maintenance Systems, Inc. for emergency repair work at the Florence Dogwood Hills Pump Station. Alderman Mason Herrin moved the payment, seconded by Alderman Brent Sistrunk; the repairs were declared an emergency to protect the community from the possibility of raw sewage leakage.
