Board approves dispatch training for Joanna Karras, city to cover $300 fee

Mayor Trey Gunn called the regular meeting to order July 1; on the recommendation of Police Chief Brad Burns the board approved training for Dispatcher Joanna Karras. Alderman John Banks moved the motion and Alderman Mason Herrin seconded it; the board approved payment of the $300 registration fee and all related costs allowed by state law for the July 14–15, 2025 course at the Pearl Police Department.
The vote was unanimous. The approval formalizes the city's commitment to send dispatch personnel to training on officer-involved shootings and critical incidents and to cover associated registration and allowable expenses as part of the police department's training budget.
