On Nov. 4 the Florence Board approved a contract for a 6-inch asphalt patch on Main Street, awarding the job to A J Construction, Inc. for $5,000. Street Director David Myers recommended the low bid; the competing bid from Pavepro was $6,500.
The minutes record: "Upon recommendation of Street Director, David Myers a Motion was made by Alderman Sistrunk, seconded by Alderman Herrin to approve the quote of AJ Construction, Inc. in the amount of $5,000.00 for a 6\" asphalt patch located on Main Street, the lowest and best quote of two received." The motion carried by unanimous vote. The minutes do not record a contract number or a schedule; city staff will handle procurement and scheduling under the approved quote.
Separately, the board approved an additional invoice-related cost of $1,730 for labor and equipment to locate and cap a 4-inch line at Main and Church Street (invoice #25-2510), also on the recommendation of Street Director David Myers.
