The Board of County Commissioners formally welcomed the county’s new health officer (speaker 10) at the Nov. 19 meeting. Dr. Moore described her background as an infectious disease physician, prior Navy public health roles and recent work overseeing HIV and STD prevention programs at a Navy public health command.
Dr. Moore said she began the position last week and is meeting county health department staff to identify priorities "that will really help to meet the needs of the people of Calvert County," while coordinating with the Maryland Department of Health and the board. Commissioners and staff welcomed her and noted a smooth transition led by interim staff who facilitated onboarding.
No board action was required; the session served as an introduction and an opportunity for commissioners to outline public health expectations and offer support.
