Bryan council appoints advisory committee to guide next comprehensive plan

The council approved recommended appointments to a comprehensive-plan advisory committee that will help shape a new citywide comprehensive plan. Staff said the committee is intended to include representation from the city’s development-related boards and commissions and that consultants Haff and Associates have been hired; the first advisory meeting is scheduled for Oct. 23.
Joey (city staff) described the selection process as a staff-provided recommended list with feedback from boards and commissions to ensure representation. "We want representation of most of our development boards and commissions," Joey said, and staff confirmed each recommended appointee had been contacted and agreed to serve. The read list included James Edge; Clint Cooper; Doug Marino; Glenn Brewer; Joel Bridal; Jack Valerius; Kevin Krotcheck; Judge Kyle Cassell; Dan Rudge; Barbara Klein; Wade Beckman; and Jared Salvato, with Kevin Borisky named as an alternate.
Council noted the process offers additional public input opportunities through focus groups and public meetings; the full committee is expected to meet roughly five times over the next 12 months to guide plan development. The motion to appoint the recommended slate passed unanimously.
