Bryan council approves $4.23 million playground installation at Midtown Park

The City of Bryan approved a $4,227,806.50 contract with Lone Star Recreation of Texas LLC to purchase and install playground equipment at Bryan Midtown Park. Council members asked staff whether restrooms and seating were included; staff confirmed restrooms were not part of this contract but said seating and pavilion amenities are included in the bid.
Frank Clark, speaking for parks staff, said pavilions will include picnic tables and that benches will be located after coordination with parks personnel. "The pavilions have picnic tables and there are benches that we'll locate," Clark said. He also confirmed that a $2,000,000 charitable donation from the Darwood Foundation (Doug and Cara French) is included in the project funding and reflected in the total price.
A council member moved to approve the contract and the motion passed unanimously. Staff said bench locations and final site details would be set as the installation schedule progresses.
