Planner Stuart Starry said the 2.32-acre site is already surrounded by industrial zoning and that the request included a plan to add five parking spaces to meet code. Applicant Judy Allen, who identified herself and the company's Rowlett address, told commissioners "we do not use any chemicals" and described the business's market (primarily equipment rental companies).
Commissioners asked about the proposed manufacturing activities and whether the company planned to close its Rowlett facility; Allen confirmed they will move operations to Garland and expand capacity. Commissioner Abel moved and Commissioner Jones seconded to close the public hearing and approve the SUP for eight years; the vote was unanimous.
The approval allows the applicant to pursue permits consistent with the SUP and Garland development standards; council approval remains part of the process.
