Residents report sediment and erosion in swales; city says check‑dams are temporary and contractor is addressing maintenance
Summary
Neighbors told staff that recent rains have filled check‑dams and caused erosion in the 15‑foot no‑disturb swale; Assistant City Manager Crystal Owens said check‑dams are temporary, contractors have been directed to respond and sediment basins will be converted after infrastructure is complete.

Several residents described visible erosion in a swale within the 15‑foot no‑disturb easement and said mud and debris are collecting behind temporary check‑dams. A resident from Sherry Lane said the slope is steep and that recent rain had already caused noticeable erosion and accumulation in the check‑dams.
"There has been a lot of erosion in the swale," the resident said, and asked who will maintain the check‑dams and whether they are intended to be permanent. Crystal Owens responded that the check‑dams are temporary and that the contractor had been notified and "is already aware of that" and working on maintenance. Owens reiterated that sediment basins presently look intrusive because they are performing their intended function and that, following infrastructure completion, the basins will be converted to a pilot drainage channel and be less intrusive.
Staff promised to follow up on specific locations residents pointed out and to get back to individuals with details; they also acknowledged the need for ongoing erosion protection and that the contractor had been directed to address temporary erosion‑control deficiencies.
