Residents press Council on West Innovation District plans, possible home takings and transparency

Speakers described procedural problems at a recent Planning & Zoning (P&Z) meeting — characterizing parts of it as rushed, with multiple waivers approved and limited time for public input — and asked Council to intervene where appropriate. Several long-time residents highlighted scale concerns for the Y Block development proposal, citing previously established limits (three stories) and recent approvals or proposals for buildings rising up to 11–12 stories near Riverside Drive.
Other commenters raised fiscal and demographic concerns about Envision Dublin growth projections and asked for clear dates for community collaboration. Staff and Council responded by offering to collect constituent contact information and to meet in follow-up sessions; planning staff said P&Z schedule limitations mean regulatory hearings will likely occur after the first of the year while staff will meet with residents and share more detailed materials (Jenny Rausch and other staff to follow up).
