Mayor Stacy Moore told the council she had contacted an owner who removed falling gutters after being alerted about property conditions and presented a draft letter to be mailed to residents whose properties are negatively affecting others' values. The letter is intended to reference the ordinances the city can enforce; City Attorney Jerry Bogle will review and revise the draft to ensure compliance with applicable law before the city mails it.
Council Member Chris Prater urged continued pressure on persistently poorly maintained properties and the council discussed conducting a drive-around of the city to identify additional addresses for follow-up. The council tabled additional enforcement steps pending attorney review and the collection of a citywide list.
