Angela Hardeman, nominated in PR 26-390, told the committee she has more than 25 years of social-work experience and would use that perspective to expand the board's educational role. "A lot of candidates... don't find out or even discuss the board outside of licensing," Hardeman said, arguing the board should partner with schools and practitioners so that social workers understand the board's functions beyond compliance.
Hardeman also identified interagency coordination—particularly between the Department of Human Services and the D.C. Housing Authority—as a recurring challenge in permanent supportive housing case management. "I would probably say one of the biggest, unfortunately, is the collaboration between DHS and the D.C. Housing Authority," she said, and urged professional partnerships and advocacy across agencies. Her nomination was presented but the committee did not take a vote.
