Chair Christina Henderson (Committee on Health) opened the public roundtable at 2 p.m. and introduced two mayoral nominations to the District's Board of Social Work: PR 26-389 (Tracy Hamilton) and PR 26-390 (Angela Hardeman). The board oversees licensing, scope-of-practice issues and disciplinary matters for social workers practicing in the District.
Both nominees gave short statements about their professional backgrounds and priorities. Tracy Hamilton, who identified herself as a licensed independent clinical social worker and lead social worker at Sibley Memorial Hospital, described two decades of clinical and supervisory experience across hospitals and community settings. Angela Hardeman, an adjunct faculty member at Howard University and a MedStar Health case manager, outlined more than 25 years of social-work experience and said she would work to ensure the board is both an enforcement and an educational body. Chair Henderson noted that the Board of Social Work currently has only one member (a consumer member) and said adding the two nominees would bring membership to three; no formal vote or confirmation occurred during the roundtable.
Both nominees confirmed they have discussed time commitments with current employers and said they can meet the demands of board service. Henderson closed the hearing, thanked the nominees and announced the committee's next public roundtable on Dec. 3.
