Cochair Bill Lyon introduced four petition templates compiled by Robin Gearing — a business petition, a townwide petition and neighborhood versions for Centerville and Bayfront — and asked attendees to sign and help distribute them. He emphasized the importance of collecting contact information and said there are sheets listing officials' email addresses to facilitate outreach.
Dr. Steven Shapiro urged residents to write personalized emails rather than rely on a single template: "When you write a personal email that says, 'I've looked at this and it's different from everybody else,' it's really much more impactful than just... having a standard letter." The group discussed a Feb. 19 deadline for compiling signers and flagged Feb. 4 as an earlier milestone; organizers also planned to ask the fire chief and district manager for supporting letters and to use both paper petitions and social‑media channels with QR codes for distribution.
