City’s safety action plan finalized; regional surveys to gather public input

City staff reported that the city’s Safe Streets safety action plan — funded through a federal SS4A (Safe Streets and Roads for All) grant — was finalized and approved by the city council in December and is available on the city website. The plan is a lengthy document (described as roughly 200 pages) and identifies low-cost, high-impact improvements the city can pursue.
A regional safety action plan being developed by the council of governments will launch two online surveys later this month: one general public survey and one targeted at people with disabilities to capture safety concerns and priorities. "Later this month, we'll release 2 online surveys... one is just a general public survey, and the other is targeted for safety issues with people with disabilities," the regional representative said. Committee members discussed opportunities to integrate parts of the city plan into Folly Road work and to use the committee network for public input events.
