Staff told council the city was invited to continue participation in the Bureau of Workers' Compensation group retrospective rating program through the Ohio Association of Public Treasurers and recommended authorization for the city manager to proceed for the 2027 policy year. The staff estimate for the 2027 premium is $255,863 — about $14,000 less than last year per staff — and Sedgwick was recommended to continue as third‑party administrator at a cost of $8,575.
Staff cautioned that final premiums will be trued up in October and noted that additional payroll changes could affect the premium because BWC premiums are salary‑based. Council asked clarifying questions and agreed to move the legislation to Monday for formal adoption.
