Converse County accepts $99,000 Public Health BASE grant to address food insecurity

Public Health Nurse Manager Darcey Cowardin briefed commissioners on concerns about food insecurity among elderly Converse County residents and collaborative efforts with local organizations such as the Saving Grace Food Pantry. Following the presentation, the Board approved the Grant Agreement with the Wyoming Department of Health, Public Health Division, accepting $99,000 for the Public Health BASE Grant for the term July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027.
Commissioners recorded the motion as moved by Trent Kaufman and seconded by Donald Blackburn; the vote carried. Cowardin and staff will continue the programmatic work described and provide updates as requested.
