Board approves Stanley Shop fence, hears Knife River lease terms and schedules CR15 rail removal inspections

The Board approved a quote from Security Fence Inc. to install approximately 390 feet of fence at the Stanley Shop for $19,438.90. The motion was moved by Commissioner Jason Rice, seconded by Commissioner Wayne Olson, and passed unanimously.
Board members also discussed terms to include in a prospective Knife River commercial lease for the New Town Shop: a two-year term with automatic non-renewal, rent to remain $5,000 per year, and a letter of credit for reclamation modeled on gravel-pit agreements. The lease will be presented in a coming meeting. Separately, Northern Plains Rail Services and Smart Sand notified the county that track removal and a crossing upgrade on CR15 and 38th St NW are planned May 11–16; county representatives requested pre- and post-inspections to document road condition and liability. The Board also approved an NRCS right-of-way agreement for a portion of CR3 (Palermo North) involving Frank X. Kartsch & Kristin E. Kartsch.
