Board authorizes $6,500 valve fix on Bear Creek South; multiple bridge projects underway

The board authorized Utility Director Darryl Green to proceed with a valve installation to correct a pressure issue caused by an elevation difference on Bear Creek South at an estimated cost of about $6,500. Ald. Keith Smith moved to authorize the work and Ald. Donna R. Butler seconded; the motion carried.
Green also reported that pre-construction or construction has started on multiple bridge projects—Hwy 100 and Dry Creek among them—and that pre-construction work for the Talley Store Road bridge began while the city monitors another bridge in the Montezuma area. Green acknowledged the Tennessee Department of Transportation’s involvement on several projects and thanked Assistant CMFO Alicia Holder for managing accounting on the work.
