Henderson approves mower buys; discusses backhoe repair and fire-truck quotes

Recorder Jim E. Garland told the board that budgeted funds were available in both Parks and Utility budgets to cover the mower purchases from J&B Small Engines. "After further discussion, a motion was made by Ald. Barber to approve the purchase of the two mowers as presented, duly 2nd by Ald. Maness. Motion carried," the minutes state. Alderman Mark A. Barber moved and Alderman Buel Maness seconded the motion.
Later in the meeting, Garland reported the Public Works Department's backhoe was taken to Caterpillar and the repair estimate was approximately $11,000, citing multiple issues including air conditioning, back glass, diesel pump and hydraulic pumps. "The repair estimate is $ 11,000.000. This will be a big hit to the budget but there is enough to cover the hit," Garland said. Fire Chief Doug Acred also told the board he was working on quotes for a new fire truck to be purchased with CDBG grant funds; Garland said he would present bid results for the city park project at the September meeting.
