Cleveland council approves purchase of John Deere mower for public works

Public Works Director Casey Volk presented three quotes for lawn mowers and recommended the John Deere option for size and suitability. Volk told the council two of the alternatives were full-size tractors "approximately twice the weight" of the chosen model but similar in cost; he said the John Deere unit from Kibble Equipment would meet the city's needs at roughly $13,014. Council voted to approve the purchase with funding from the Public Works capital outlay fund (motion by Sarah McCabe, second by Tonya Schummer; voting: Yes – All).
Volk also reported he is obtaining estimates for several small paving projects expected to range from $5,000 to $10,000 and will present the estimates to council when received. The mower purchase is intended to replace or supplement existing city grounds equipment and was authorized at the April 6 meeting.
