City leaders voted Sept. 12 to accept a $986,162.66 bid from Grinder Taber Grinder, Inc. for the City Park Improvement Project funded by a 50% LPRF grant and 50% local match. Recorder Jim E. Garland told the board that bids exceeded the project's budget by $96,000; Mayor Terry F. Bell reported LPRF had approved an extra $50,000 in matching funds. The board agreed to fund the remaining local match and proceed with the project.
Alderman Donna R. Butler made the motion to accept the Grinder Taber Grinder, Inc. bid and to fund the additional $50,000 local match; Alderman Mark A. Barber seconded and the motion carried. The decision authorizes staff to move forward with procurement and project implementation under the adjusted funding plan.
