Kalkaska County Road Commission Manager John Rogers asked the Board of Commissioners Committee of the Whole to approve Resolution 2025-11, a bond proposition to fund a new Road Commission facility and place the question on the August election ballot. Commissioners debated costs, alternative funding and whether to reduce the scope before forwarding the proposal.
The committee recorded a voice consensus that failed to move the resolution to the Regular Meeting—yeas from Commissioners Truman Bicum and Kohn Fisher; nays from Jeff Sieting, Scott Matley, David Comai and David Persons; Commissioner Robert Baldwin was absent. Rogers told the committee the Road Commission had previously passed the resolution and that assistance from the county would not change the facility need or the underlying cost estimates.
