County signs on to UND Safe Streets and Roads for All project to study rural roadway safety

Sherif Gaweesh of UND outlined program benefits for the county including data-driven transportation safety assessments, identification of high-risk locations, strategy development to reduce fatal and severe-injury crashes, and potential corridor-specific implementation planning. The UND request included stakeholder coordination, access to available roadway data, and participation in outreach and review; commissioners approved the county’s participation by roll call vote.
No funding commitment was recorded at the meeting; the county’s role is to support planning and outreach for the SS4A application and study.
