Mountrail County commissioners on May 19 approved bills totaling $1,965,673.81 and payroll for April 26–May 9 totaling $621,434.91, and enacted several personnel actions affecting corrections, weed control and road crews.
Randi Schumaier, the county’s Human Resource Generalist, presented Human Resource Advisory Committee recommendations and told commissioners that “the HRAC recommendation was to put $1,600 on the lowest banding within the salary chart which is equivalent to a 3% COLA.” The board approved adding $1,600 to the lowest banding for the 2027 preliminary budget.
The board approved employee classifications and salary actions including Thomas Gross as Maintenance/Weed Control Foreman at $29.66 per hour (not to exceed 32 hours per week), temporary hire Clancy Hornberger as a sprayer at $25.47 per hour, seasonal roadworker McKenna Braaflat at $25.35 per hour, and promoted Kris Bingen to Senior Correctional Officer at $36.19 per hour ($75,276.70 annually). Commissioners noted a possible budget amendment may be required for one classification.
Commissioner motions and roll-call votes carried each personnel and financial item. The county auditor’s office will post the full vendor list and fund breakdown on the county website and maintain records for public review.
