County awards $5.79 million in overlay contracts, approves Knife River final pay and utility notices for road projects

Road & Bridge Engineer Jana Hennessy presented bid results and project updates for multiple road projects. The board approved the Notice of Award to Mayo Construction Company for the 2026 HMA Overlay and 87th Ave NW paving projects with the county share totaling $5,785,650.18 and Osborn Township share $122,800.78. The board also approved balancing change order #4 decreasing Knife River Materials by $547,508.96 and approved a final pay application of $464,425.26 for Knife River on CR3 HMA Surfacing Project No. 03(71)23.
Commissioners approved Notices of Intent with Mountrail Williams Electric Cooperative for CR9 (estimate $55,000; not to exceed $85,000), CR3 (estimate $106,000; not to exceed $160,000) and CR10-CR11 intersection (estimate $249,000; not to exceed $381,000) with discussion that undergrounding utilities at the CR10-CR11 intersection may require significant vertical adjustments and could delay construction.
