Planner Melissa Vachal and consultant Scott Harmstead presented the first reading of a proposed Land Development Code. The board approved the motion to advance the code to public hearing and directed staff to publish public hearing notices twice in the official newspaper; the hearing was set for April 21.
During the presentation, Alex Vournas of Mountrail Williams Electric Cooperative raised concerns about the electric grid and how the data and battery centers would affect citizens and the cooperative. P&Z Chairman Charlie Sorenson said the grid will face larger issues in the future to supply the demand without the battery and data centers; consultant Travis Sauber discussed data-center requirements.
