Mountrail commissioners vacate alley ways in Coulee Village Block 3

The Mountrail County Commission voted unanimously to vacate all alley ways in Block 3 of the Original Townsite of Coulee Village (NW¼ Section 2, Township 158 North, Range 88 West) after holding a public hearing Jan. 20. The petitioners listed in the petition were Tahnee King, Aemilia Lindquist and Mountrail County. The county published notice in the Mountrail County Promoter on Jan. 7 and Jan. 14, 2026, and the minutes report no oral or written opposition was received.
The adopted resolution cites North Dakota Century Code §40-50.1-16 and notes the plat was filed for record on Dec. 22, 2025 as Document #469506. "Motion was made by Hollekim, seconded by DeGroot to adopt the above-stated Findings and approve a Resolution pursuant to N.D.C.C. §40-50.1-16 to vacate all alley ways in the Block 3 of the Village of Coulee," the minutes state. Voting record shows Commissioners DeGroot, Ruland, Hollekim, Olson and Rice voting AYE.
The resolution states that alternate access routes provide sufficient access to the newly created lots and that all landowners in Block 3 signed the Plat. The recorded plat and the resolution are available through the Auditor’s Office and the county recorder’s public records.
