Council begins multi-year cereal rye replacement and green-space refresh; July 4th parade conditionally approved

Operations staff reported the start of targeted weed spraying for poison hemlock, thistle and white top in select open-space areas and the initiation of a multi-year control project to replace cereal rye grass along Dry Creek with native vegetation. Council emphasized that the vegetation conversion will significantly reduce contiguous wildfire fuel loads by removing an aggressive, non-native grass source.
Separately, the July 4th parade and concert received conditional approval from Ada County Development Services pending final approvals from NACFR and ACSO. Staff said they will issue a call for volunteers and provide a route and road-closure notice to residents prior to the event.
