David E. Brown, Agency Director at the Department of Health Professions, briefed the Board on programs established through the Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP) funding awarded to Virginia.
Brown said the state received $185.5 million under RHTP and described four collaborating initiatives—CareIQ, Homegrown Health Heroes, Connected Care, and Closer to Home—designed to expand outreach and strengthen community EMT support. He also said the Live Well Together initiative aims to improve access to nutritious food and encourage greater physical activity among children. Brown noted that projects launched under the previous administration are being implemented during the current administration.
Board members received the overview as informational. No Board action was taken at the meeting; staff will continue to coordinate with partners implementing the RHTP-funded projects.
