The Rolette County Commission approved purchasing two 2023 Chevrolet Silverado pickups for the sheriff's office using ARPA funds. After earlier quotes at $40,905, the board on Feb. 14 approved two 5.3L 2023 Silverado pickups at $51,015 each. The purchase replaces a Dodge Durango and Dodge Charger and was presented as an alternative to filling a full-time deputy position using ARPA funds.
Sheriff Nathan Gustafson told the board the Department of Corrections had found the jail non-compliant in 17 standards during a recent inspection, but he said those deficiencies were corrected, largely by changing policy wording. The sheriff also presented multiple inmate housing agreements; the board approved received agreements with Ramsey County, Cavalier County and Rolette City at a boarding rate of $85 per day.
