Board approves setback relief to allow reconstruction after house fire

The Zoning Board approved variances June 18 to allow the reconstruction of a single-family dwelling for Sherry Jensen at 6 Wendy Drive after the existing home was deemed structurally unsound following a February 14 fire.
Engineer Larry Tilton told the board the foundation was damaged by fire and water and that a structural report concluded the house must be removed and rebuilt: "the house has to come down, needs to be removed, and build a new home." He described site constraints including buffer zones adjacent to a pond, planned conservation commission conditions and an upcoming Notice of Intent filing. The board approved relief of 4.2 feet on the side yard and 9 feet on the Natalie-side front yard to permit the rebuilt footprint.
The approval allows the property owner to proceed with demolition and reconstruction, subject to any conservation commission conditions and required permitting.
