Conservancy outlines rain gardens, downspout planters and seven ARP-funded township projects

Maureen McGahn described small- and large-scale green stormwater infrastructure projects the Conservancy installs with homeowners and municipalities, including a two-tier rain garden designed to keep roof runoff out of the storm system. She said these projects often pair stormwater capture with pollinator plantings to increase habitat while reducing runoff.
"This past year, we had a a nice, grant from Lower Marion Township's, American Rescue Plan, the the COVID relief funds. We were able to do 7 fairly large projects on Lower Marion, properties," McGahn said. The presentation included before-and-after photos of a near-total lawn-to-meadow restoration that also intercepts roof water redirected into newly planted basins.
