Kay County commissioners vote to opt in to national opioid settlement after DA recommendation

The Kay County Board of County Commissioners voted unanimously on March 23 to opt in to the National Prescription Opiate Litigation settlement, Case No. 1:17-md-2804. Chairman Jeff Kreger moved the motion, which passed with Commissioners Shane Jones and Jason Shanks voting aye.
District Attorney Brian Hermanson told the board he had reviewed documents from the attorneys representing the County and had spoken with them directly; he said "the attorneys recommended that the County approve and opt in to the settlement agreement." Hermanson said he agreed with that recommendation and advised the BOCC to opt in. The board recorded a unanimous vote approving the county's participation. The action was recorded on the meeting agenda and entered into the minutes for public record.
