Student member Albert He described and demonstrated an app he developed that identifies trees from a photo, gives care instructions and returns a confidence percentage for the identification. "Mr. He made an app where you take a photo of a tree and it will identify where it is from, how to take care of it, and percentage of how confident it is that species," the minutes record.
Commissioners noted the app could be useful for outreach and education in support of the Shade Tree Commission’s programs and the Whitpain Wire content plan; staff and members will consider how to incorporate or promote the tool in future communications.
