Commissioners approve Roachdale alley vacation to allow barn construction
Summary
Putnam County commissioners unanimously approved an ordinance vacating a north—south alley in the Town of Roachdale; adjoining owners said the vacation will allow them to meet BZA requirements to build a barn and the land will be split and returned to the tax rolls.
County Attorney Jim Ensley presented a petition to vacate an alley running between county roads 1000 North and 975 North in the Town of Roachdale. Ensley said letters were sent to surrounding property owners and no objections were received at the time of the meeting.
Property owners Megan Long and Dustin Long told the board the alley vacation would help them meet Board of Zoning Appeals requirements to construct a barn on their property at 2253 E CR 975 N. Commissioner Andy Beck moved to approve ordinance 2026-5-18-2 to vacate the alley; Commissioner Rick Woodall seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Ensley stated the vacated property will be split between adjoining owners and return to the tax rolls.
