The Oneida County Planning & Development Committee approved a conditional use permit May 13 to allow applicant F.J. Frazier and owner BMHQ LLC to redevelop and expand an existing restaurant and outdoor seating area at 305 W Park Avenue in the Village of Minocqua. The motion to approve the permit, moved by Dan Hess and seconded by Michael Tautges, carried with all members present voting "Aye."
Staff presented the application and listed recommended conditions including that the nature and extent of the use not change from the application, the project be substantially commenced within three years, compliance with all DOT requirements (including a WisDOT lease for any parking in the highway right-of-way), a stormwater easement agreement with the Town of Minocqua, signage compliance with Oneida County ordinance 9.78, a minimum of nineteen parking spaces, downcast lighting, screened dumpster, required zoning and shoreyard permits, health department approvals, and that the permit remain subject to variances from the Oneida County Board of Adjustment.
Chair Scott Holewinski opened the public hearing. Speakers who addressed the committee included William Stengl, applicant F.J. Frazier, Amber Lawrence, and Dave Freese. Staff members Karl Jennrich and Carla Blankenship read notices and correspondence into the record and answered committee questions about conditions and the project footprint.
The committee’s approval is contingent on the listed conditions and any required variances and permits from town, county, and state agencies. The permit must comply with the Oneida County Zoning and Shoreland Protection Ordinance and Oneida County Health Department requirements before construction proceeds.
