The Wapsie Valley Athletic Booster Club’s fundraising subcommittee reported $274,649 in donations from 37 donors since April, funding work for the school district’s new athletic complex. Hailey Broten, participating virtually, said one construction quote from Henry Schwartz has been received for a storage building included in the original complex design, and additional contractor quotes remain outstanding.
Broten told the board the subcommittee plans to bring the building’s design and location for board approval at the August meeting. She also said a soft opening for donors is tentatively scheduled for Sept. 3, with a grand opening planned for Sept. 4 to coincide with the first home event on the new football field; a community meal is also planned before the game. No formal board vote was recorded on the fundraising update itself.
