Chisago County hires AIS specialist, pursues groundwater-plan grant and schedules AIS workshop

Madelyn Kinny, Chisago County Water Resource Manager, told the LID board on April 6 that Alex Barker started that day as the county's new Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Specialist. Kinny said interviews for Level 1 and Level 2 inspectors were scheduled later in the week, and the county anticipates hiring six new Level 1 inspectors to support AIS work.
Kinny also updated the board that the county has applied for (or is pursuing) a Minnesota Department of Health Accelerated Implementation Grant to complete a County Groundwater Management Plan. She noted an upcoming Aquatic Invasive Species Workshop on April 16, co-hosted with Wild Rivers Conservancy and featuring presentations from the Department of Natural Resources, the Aquatic Invasive Species Research Center (on starry stonewort), and the Lower St. Croix Partnership on outreach strategies for lake associations.
