"For more than 100 years, Extension has been active in bringing information created at the university into communities..." Darden said, noting the program's long-standing role in agriculture and community education. She cited a statewide food-and-agriculture impact figure and highlighted local programs: "We're proud that in 2025, we had 94 youth engaged in clubs in Roscommon County."
Darden also described staff reductions in SNAP-education across the state — "we lost more than 90 staff across the state" — which has local service implications. She offered to work with the county on transitions and noted she will be transitioning to a different director role covering additional counties but will remain involved locally until an interim is named.
