Huachuca City council schedules work session to explore annexation along Highway 90 and Lower Huachuca City

The Huachuca City Town Council on March 26 directed staff to schedule a work session on April 2, 2026 to explore possible annexation of land along Highway 90 north of town and in the 400 and 500 blocks of Lower Huachuca City. Mayor Johann Wallace said he wanted the item back on the agenda to allow a focused review.
"I wanted this back on the Agenda so we can get a work session scheduled and really get into it and see what we are looking at," Mayor Wallace said. Town Manager Suzanne Harvey told the council staff will evaluate the costs of extending services, gauge property-owner interest and analyze potential benefits to current residents. The council did not take a formal vote on annexation itself but agreed to the April 2 study session.
Why it matters: annexation can change service delivery responsibilities, tax bases and development patterns. Council asked staff to return to a future meeting with cost estimates and community feedback gathered before any formal annexation proposal is advanced.
