The Cleveland County Board of County Commissioners debated whether the Sheriff's Office should pay a $12,506.85 invoice from The Boyd Group (U.S.) Inc. d/b/a Gerber Collision for a vehicle repair after a deputy-involved collision.
Undersheriff Mike Finley told the board legal counsel was reviewing whether the Sheriff's Office or another department was legally responsible. Finley said the department has funds for operations but questioned whether it was required to cover the other party’s damage and noted the estimate has been revised multiple times as additional damage was found. He said he would consult with legal counsel and emphasized the department was "doing their best to manage finances and meet payroll."
