Committee backs multiple park grant applications and snowmobile trail aid resolution

Ozaukee County's Natural Resources Committee approved several grant submittals March 6, advancing funding requests for trail maintenance, park access improvements and environmental education.
The Planning & Parks Department moved approval to apply for a Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin Go Outside Fund grant to support invasive species field days at Hawthorne Hills County Park with local school children; the motion carried unanimously. The committee also approved a resolution to submit and accept Wisconsin DNR Outdoor Motorized Recreation Trail Aids funding for 2025-2026 snowmobile trail maintenance — that resolution will move forward to the County Board for final action.
Additionally, the committee approved Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Local Assistance Program grant applications: one for public access improvements at Clay Bluffs Cedar Gorge Nature Preserve and another for public access improvements at Tendick Nature County Park. The committee approved a third Knowles-Nelson application to acquire parcel 080161000200 in the Town of Saukville as part of the Riveredge and Cedarburg Bog Natural Area project area; these resolutions will also advance to the County Board for final action.
