Council approves out-of-town water connection for 2181 Old Valley Pike

The New Market Town Council authorized an out-of-town water connection at 2181 Old Valley Pike (Map ID# 104A02) during its Jan. 21, 2026 meeting.
Summer Medina presented an overview slide showing the property; Mr. Garrison explained the town will install the meter at the property line but the property owner is responsible for the service line to the home and for the connection and meter fees. Mr. Garrison stated, "yes, the out-of-town regular rates and the out-of-town connection fee for the 3/4 inch." Peg Harkness moved to approve the connection and Janice Hannah seconded; the motion passed 4-0 after questions about rates and installation responsibilities were answered.
Public works staff advised they saw no physical impediments to the connection. The approval clarified financial responsibility: the owner pays meter and connection fees; the town's public works staff will perform the physical connection and meter setup.
