Watonwan SWCD approves multiple contracts for windbreaks and tree establishment

Board action covered six local contracts: 26-CC-01 (actual cost $6,901.74, NRCS 380 windbreak), 26-CC-04 (actual cost $9,371.36; 85% cost-share up to $5,000), 26-CC-06 (actual cost $3,787.15), 25-SH-03 (actual cost $6,617.52, NRCS 612 tree establishment), 25-SH-04 (actual cost $5,469.77; 85% cost-share applied $4,649.30, slippage $350.70) and 25-SH-05 (actual cost $6,101.58). The motion to approve the listed contracts was made by Bret Braaten and seconded by Matt Wolle and carried unanimously (Bergeman, Braaten, Enger, Wolle).
Separately, the board approved GBERBA contract WBIF-WW-24-83-07, which listed an estimated cost of $13,495 and an actual cost of $26,265, with 85% cost-share up to $10,000 under FY24 WBIF 2.0 for NRCS 612 tree establishment. The board recorded that the funding source for the local contracts included FY25 soil health and FY26/27 conservation contracts and that cost-share ceilings applied where noted.
The approvals were routine motions on the consent/action docket; no dissenting votes were recorded. The board’s decisions authorize staff to proceed with contract processing and cost-share payments under the stated program rules.
